A hardware based on premises option for image processing is available for customers who are more comfortable for sample images to remain physically on site. In this configuration, images are processed by DCM software running on a supplied local server. This option can also be useful for isolated locations where no existing internet connectivity is available, as it can optionally include satellite based portable internet link. Since this requires hardware setup and installation on site it does have a considerably higher up front cost. In addition an ‘On-prem’ installation has significant limitations, most importantly each kit can only service a small number of cameras (depending on the hardware used from 2-8) and they need to be close enough to the kit to physically run cable, usually less than 100 meters. Because of these factors, and the need for ongoing physical security and maintenance, this type of configuration is generally best for temporary installs.
DCM can provide some hardware option. These include a small rugged ‘minikit’ capable of running one or two cameras in a discrete location – or a larger, expandable server in a rugged case, designed to be installed in the users existing data center and running a larger number of cameras.
